Sea Prayer is a book with short physical spread but wide emotional impact.

I finished the book within 30 mins. But kept thinking about it for rest of the night. That itself is a testimony of the author and his success in creating a resonance on the reader’s mind.

From the vivid wordings to the captivating illustrations throughout, every square inch of the book keeps you glued to it. By the time you turn the last page and close the dust cover, you’ll not even realize how a crippling sadness engulfed you anticipating the apparent destiny of Marwan, the father’s son.

This book is not a poem, nor it’s a letter. Rather it’s a three-way conversation among a father, his son, and the God. It’s an eternal cry of a helpless father for the safekeeping of his child, his dearest cargo. It’s a testament of his eternal prayer to the God and his merciless sea for a smooth sailing towards a safe harbor.

Life is an illusion. It’s more evident in the time of war when your entire life can be uprooted on a moment’s notice. Everything that you hold dear can be snatched away from you in the blink of an eye.

In the end, all one wants is the safeguard of their loved ones. But alas! Often that’s not how it ends, for life isn’t fair.

Life has definitely not been fair to Marwan and his father.
